Bluewater Swim & Sauna Wild Swimming

Bluewater Swim & Sauna is Hangloose Adventure’s chalk-quarry lake beside Bluewater shopping centre, The Dome, Bluewater Parkway, Greenhithe DA9 9SW. Year-round wild swim, floating sauna, cold plunge, relaxation pontoon. Changing rooms, warm showers, lockers, café. You go because Kent has a bookable quarry loop you can reach by FastTrack from Greenhithe, with no mud and no NOWCA wristband. You also go knowing it is an adventure park that also sells an aqua park and a zipline. The swim is one ticket among many.

Getting in

Single swim £11 on swimandsauna.com. Monthly membership £20, minimum three months, auto-renew, 14 days’ notice to cancel. Annual £160. Unlimited swims on membership; add sauna at £8.50. One-off sauna and swim £22; sauna and floating deck without a swim £15. Bundles: four sessions £60, eight £90, fifteen £150. Sessions last an hour. Speedy sauna is 15 minutes.

Book a date and time. 48 hours’ notice to move a swimandsauna booking. Hangloose: changes inside 48 hours are £5 a head. Arrive no later than five minutes before the slot. Walk-ups exist, not guaranteed. The water-activity booking fee is already in the price.

18+ for wild swim, or under-18 with an ASA Level 1 Open Water award and an adult. Hangloose activity rules: swim 100m unaided. The swimandsauna FAQ still says 50m — use the 100m. Tow float on every swim booking; hire or buy on site, or bring your own. Wetsuit if the water is below 12°C; hire on site. Below 12°C without a wetsuit is a plunge dip: stay within 10m of the entry, bring a friend. Winter full-route swims: book 24 hours ahead for lifeguard cover, maximum 25 minutes in a wetsuit.

The swim

Chalk quarry. Event routes have been 150m and 250m; a planning note put the marked lap at about 250–300m. No induction. Tow float. Proper swimwear. The swimming facilities are not wheelchair accessible.

Park at the Village Car Park by House of Fraser, or the Hangloose customer car park, then the zebra crossing toward the chalk cliffs and the domes. Waze: Hangloose Bluewater. Free lockers. Café on the lake, or walk into Bluewater. Dogs on a lead; separate dog-swim slots, not your swim ticket.

Members get priority and often free access to moonlight swims and other events. Nothing but Water evening nude swims ran in 2026 as a separate ticketed product, 18+, billed at 200m unaided for that event.

Worth knowing

Aqua park is a different age limit, a different 45 minutes, and not the wild swim. Thunder and high wind close things; rain does not. If you want a Surrey NOWCA reservoir instead, Divers Cove at Godstone is the other South East quarry-style pin. This is the Greenhithe chalk hole next to the shops.
